Secara umum penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam menulis cerpen di kelas IX SMP. Untuk mencapai tujuan tersebut, digunakan metode penelitan dengan pendekatan mixing methods (metode yang memadukan pendekatan kualitatif dan kuantitatif). Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) yang dilakukan dalam dua siklus. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa proses pembelajaran dan kemampuan siswa dalam menulis cerpen meningkat setelah guru menerapkan metode JIGSAW.
